NorfolkState undisputed champions
Fuquay-Varina, NC - Norfolk State finished atop the Boxtorow National Division I HBCU Top 10 Basketball Poll. The selection of the Spartans as HBCU Champions was unanimous.
The Spartans won the MEAC Tournament Championship and scored a second round victory in the NCAA Tournament over No.2 seed Missouri, before falling to Florida in the third round.
SWAC regular season and tournament champion Mississippi Valley State finished No. 2, just three points ahead of MEAC regular season Savannah State who finished No. 3.
Tennessee State, who earlier in the season knocked off then undefeated and No. 7 nationally ranked Murray State finished No. 4, while Bethune-Cookman rounded out the top five.
FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW (Boxtorow) is the nationally syndicated sports talk radio show which places major emphasis on HBCU Sports. The show airs on radio stations around the country and Fridays from 1-2p ET on SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 141.
The voters are comprised of some of the top media members in the country who cover Division I basketball. The poll is in its fourth year.
